The Friends of Rathbun Present Sustainability Expert Ma'ikwe Ludwig

Nathan Hale Ray High School

Sustainable is Possible: Creating Low Carbon, High Quality Lives... Together
Featuring Ma’ikwe Ludwig

This presentation shows how we can live high quality lives while using only 10% of the resources of the
average American. Using only 10% of the resources of the average American is the current scientific
estimate for the goal we need to reach in order to head off the worst effects of climate disruption. Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage is achieving that goal, and thus is a timely, relevant and needed model as our society struggles to figure out what a livable, lowcarbon future might look like.

Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, founded in 1997 in Missouri, has created one of the foremost sustainable living demonstration projects in the nation, and its impact is steadily increasing. This village of 60 children and adults is demonstrating social and physical technologies that have cut residentsʼ ecological impact by 90% compared to the average American. Through conservation, efficiency, relocalization, cooperation, and alternative technologies, Dancing Rabbit is showing that people can live rich, vibrant lives while leaving an ecological footprint that our planet can sustain.

Ma'ikwe Ludwig is the executive director of Dancing Rabbit Inc, the nonprofit arm of Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage ( ).

Maʼikwe Ludwig is a pioneering sustainability educator who heads up Ecovillage Education US, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Fellowship for Intentional Community.

Her work integrates ecological, economic, social, political and personal approaches and technologies for a strongly holistic view of what real sustainability takes. Maʼikwe is a dynamic speaker, and was featured at TEDxCarleton in 2013 with her talk on sustainability.

Maʼikwe will be available to answer questions following the presentation.

Anyone who is concerned about the health of our planet and reducing our societyʼs ecological footprint should attend.

Light refreshments will be served.
A $5.00 donation is requested.

The Friends of Rathbun are proud to co-sponsor this event with the EH Land Trust and Friends of EHFPL.
Special thanks to Friends of Rathbun Treasurer, Roger Stube, for putting this marvelous program together.
